Flash Animation Story Board

The Tale of the Young Man from Isfahan

The feature design of my main web page on synchronicity will include a Flash Animation depicting the folktale of the 'Young Man from Isfahan' and his synchronistic encounter with Death. Below is a screen shot of a draft story board. The board is a guide only. I want to leave room for changes and new ideas as I create the animation, particularly when audio is included.

I plan to use various tarot cards as images (referenced to the sites which they are available). The audio, at this point, will be a portion of a track I wrote and performed that has a kind of 'middle eastern' feel and I hope the intensity I want to create. I will also be adding some sound effects (from a 'free sound' source) to enhance the theme such as a wolf howl, galloping and a knock on the door.

Detailed Time Line -- Research

September 15 - October - Begin Research!

Research four key areas for this project:

  1. Content--reference books, websites, images, mythology and fairytales. What tone do I want to take? Think about audience!
  2. Web Design--Expand list of criteria including accessibility, usability and SEO. Consider the site that this one will link from. Do I want it to feel like a whole new terrain or do I want continuity? Find other sites that I think would work for this topic and do screen shots for references.
  3. Flash Animation--Explore the folk tale of the young man from Isfahan as an example of Synchronicity--find images that suit--perhaps tarot cards of the knight of pentacles, Death, 9 of swords, World?- Draw up a story board. Find audio sound track and effects that do not raise copyright issues. How much do I want to analyse this tale or simply let the view draw their own conclusions?
  4. Links--What links do I want from this site? How will I categorize them? Jungian Psychology, mythology, anecdotes, forums, books, articles, further study. Get some key topics listed and bookmark important sites for quick import to site construction.
Other considerations: Software

Designing for 98% of all browsers/resolutions/colours in current use. With statistics showing the majority (66%) of modem speeds at 33.6k or less, the images, links to prinable .pdf and flash animation need to be reduced and optimized.

Was that a Coincidence? Synchronicity & Meaning

Concept for CbyerMedia Project

Synchronicity, Meaning & the Nature of Coincidence

This project will explore the relationship between Jung's theory of 'meaningful coincidence' or synchronicity and how it may be experienced through dreams, symbolism and daily life.

Format:

A web page to link from my main site including a Flash Animation designed to draw in the viewer with an example of what synchronicity is. The flash animation will act as an introduction to a lengthier discussion that will include hyper links, anecdotes in story form and references to mythology, shamanism and other archetypal symbols. Links to references and full version of text on .pdf for easy printing included.

Audience:

This project is geared toward those searching for introductory information on the topic of 'meaningful coincidence' with links for students and professionals looking for further resources.

Design:

The design will take into account usability, aesthetics, readability, navigation and include visual, auditory and interactive
aspects.
